What makes the SIRPA™ approach so powerful is that it helps you become self-empowered as you identify and address the underlying causes of your pain as well as the triggers that cause the pain to persist, increase or recur.
This module is aimed at providing you with some of the basic understanding about the concepts related to chronic pain and other mindbody conditions and their treatment. As you start to go through these introductory lessons, interspersed amongst them are a number of helpful strategies. The idea for this is not only to help you learn some simple strategies from the start, but for you to also benefit from them if you find yourself becoming triggered at any point.
In this module we go into more depth about the factors involved in mindbody/psychophysiological disorders, to help you gain a broader understanding of potential predisposing factors, as well as factors involved in the triggering and perpetuation of the pain and/or symptoms.
Module 3 is when you can begin to set your intentions and learn some powerful strategies to help you on your journey. These are life skills, not just to help resolve symptoms. The more you can integrate and really utilise the understanding and strategies, the more you will see how these are just as powerful to use as preventative measures, as they are as part of a treatment plan.
Moving forwards, in this module we go into detail about how beliefs, judgements and personality traits, as well as fear and anxiety impact pain and other mindbody symptoms. By gaining a good understanding, you will then be able to individualise all this to address those factors relevant to you and your circumstances.
Continue to use those strategies you find most helpful, as you develop a sense of feeling safe in your body, through developing your ability to self-soothe and self-regulate. Once you trust in your ability to do that, without becoming overwhelmed when emotions start to surface or the pain/symptom increases, then this is the time to begin reflecting more deeply. This module will provide you with tools to guide you through that process.
This module encourages you to explore your life further and to consider how you can focus on things that make you let go, laugh, become self-empowered and basically live a more authentic life.
We've collated all of the strategies and worksheets which we reference throughout the training into one place to make it easy for you to dip back in and find what you're looking for.
Prior to purchasing this programme it is important that you have seen a Doctor and had tests to rule out any more serious cause for your symptoms. Alternatively if your Doctor and/or Physiotherapist/Osteopath/Chiropractor has assessed you and they do not feel you require medical tests, then as long as you do not have a severe or unstable mental health condition, it should be safe for you to undertake this programme. If you would like further information about the concept on which SIRPA’s approach is based and our approach, you will find further information at www.sirpa.org
The whole programme typically takes about 5-8 weeks. However, it is self-paced so there’s no rush to complete it within this time frame. Rather than become overwhelmed, we recommend to take your time and go at the pace that is right for you.

This course if for you if:
• You need help with…back pain, sciatica, neck pain, chronic pain, shoulder/knee/hip pain etc, migraines, headaches, pelvic pain, fibromyalgia, RSI/Repetitive Strain Injury, bursitis, slipped disc, prolapsed disc, nerve compression, degenerative disc disease, facial pain, central sensitisation, muscle tension, tendonitis, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, functional disorders, and other similar issues
• You’re frustrated because…You’ve seen various therapists/clinicians/doctors and have tried numerous medical treatments but still have pain.
• You're angry & sad because…you realise that treating the physical symptoms is not helping, your pain has limited your daily life and you’re losing hope of recuperating.
• You blame your ongoing pain on… past accidents and injuries even after the tissues have healed (usually after 3 months)
This course is not for you if:
• Your pain is as a result of a tissue-damaging/pathological cause, such as: fracture, infection, cauda equina or an auto-immune condition. (N.B. Studies have shown a strong link between past stress/trauma and auto-immune conditions and although this approach can help, we would recommend people with these conditions consult a SIRPA-trained practitioner when considering whether this programme is right for you)
• You have a diagnosed mental health condition, including severe or unstable anxiety or depression. Please check with your mental health professional whether this is an appropriate programme for you to undertake. You will be acknowledging past and current unresolved emotional issues/traumas and therefore you are advised not to purchase this programme if this is the case and/or if there has been significant trauma in your life.
OR If this is the case, it is recommended that you contact us in order to discuss your situation and consider whether it would be safe to work through the programme alongside the support of one of our practitioners
Although we cannot absolutely guarantee you will be significantly better by the end of this programme, we can guarantee you will have a much better understanding of not only this concept and yourself, but how to progress on your own individual recovery journey. If, however, you feel we have not fulfilled this guarantee to you, then Georgie Oldfield MCSP will be happy to refund your money in full within 4 weeks of the date you paid for the full programme.
